Challenges
  1. Challenge: Office Design Needs

HWC desired to have an open collaborative environment capitalizing on its top floor skyline views while maintaining privacy within workstations. Conference areas, lounge seating, and traditional board and media rooms provide excellent shared work space. Lower-height workstations and sidelights allow an abundance of natural light from the vast floor to ceiling curtain wall.

  2. Challenge: Flexible and Organized Layout

Parallel was challenged to create a new office design for easy flow of information and collaboration between departmental adjacencies, all while managing the inevitable clutter of an engineering firm. Collaborative areas such as formal meeting rooms, a spacious design library, and huddle spaces are woven into the office inviting cooperative work experiences. Strategically-located plan and file storage throughout the office creates more organization.

  3. Challenge: Budget and Timeline

Respecting HWC’s budget, Parallel worked creatively within a 10-week construction timeline to design an environment representative of the brand and culture. Materials were chosen to represent HWC while being readily available to fit timeline constraints. Reclaimed Indiana barn wood and beams and laser-cut and custom molded metal from Indianapolis craftsmen create an open, inviting space with local flair.
